Chapter 4: Brigitte and the City of Oasis

solarbird and bzarcher

The war is won. Oasis and the Concordat are at peace. Overwatch has been folded up again, this time made into an intelligence arm for Helix, under new - and the UN hopes better - leadership. The Gods are free - largely - to do as they will.

Brigitte has three questions, and, as always, she's willing to do what she must to get the answers she needs.

Lena's found something she didn't expect to find, and she's very excited about it.

The war is won; spring - a slippery thing - has come at last to Russia. The snows have melted, with only remnants left to clean away. Overwatch has been folded up again, this time made into an intelligence arm for Helix, under new - and the UN hopes better - leadership. Oasis is again at peace, with the Gods free to do largely as they will.

In the midst of all these great actions, of these large shifts of state, a single person can be very small, and difficult to find, no matter how urgently that person may need to be found.

We started this one literally two and a half years ago. Two and a half years ago. Having it out at last is just... holy fuck. It's out.

Overwatch - or what is left of it - is at war with the Gods of Oasis. Russia is in a parallel war with itself, Katya Volskaya's government against the popular uprising led by the Aleksandra Zaryanova, the Goddess of Russia. As winter sets in, Zarya's March to Moscow has slowed to a crawl.

Overwatch Dolphin 102 - carrying Brigitte and Lúcio flight back to Germany from Watchpoint Nepal - has experienced a major malfunction just north of the Russia-Kazakhstan border.

Now, the consequences unfold.

Katya Volskaya's government in Russia has destroyed the omnium Koschei, and held their own against the Gods of Oasis. But with Jesse McCree having upset a precarious balance, Lena, Hana, and Sombra have intervened in Russia's rising civil war, and the fragile peace between Overwatch and Oasis has been shattered.

Back in Oasis, Emily muses with Moira on the nature of challenge - and of fear.

Katya Volskaya's government in Russia has destroyed the omnium Koschei, and held their own against the Gods of Oasis. With no point to additional fighting, the overt war has paused. But covertly, the conflict carries on. The gods, after all, still have a plan, and will do what is needed - one way, or another.

But first, some tea.

Angela - Mercy - has discovered she has worshippers, a small cult, like Hana's D.votees. Unlike Hana, she finds this rather delightful.

Moira, on the other hand, does not.

This is another backpost of Of Gods and Monsters updates I apparently didn't post here? I honestly don't know how this happened, so... yeah!

The Arc of Conflict, Edda 15: Negotiations and Ascensions
It doesn't necessarily take a goddess to realise what the gods might be doing. It might just take proximity to the Changed - and to have been changed, even a little, yourself.

This begins the second movement of the Arc of Conflict.

It also denotes a behind-the-scenes change.

Due to circumstances entirely outside her control, bzarcher's non-fandom life has become rather complicated. Don't worry, she's not sick, it's nothing like that, but she will be very busy for the foreseeable future. And this means she is officially taking a hiatus from Of Gods and Monsters.

Because a fair lot of what is to come has been written - or at least roughed in - out of order, her name will continue to appear regularly on new instalments, but she won't be doing any additional work on the story during her hiatus. (I don't think she's even had time to read the second half of this instalment, for example.) So if you see that some instalments in future are credited only to Solarbird, that is why. For now, Of Gods and Monsters is a solo project.

I think that if people wanted to wish her the best of luck in her current situation, she would appreciate that very much. I haven't asked her about that - I'm just saying.

solarbird: (tracer)

Funny thing about this was how much of the key part of it happened before this POTG starts. They were flanking to our right, and I'd ping-ponged my neg orb through that channel, and it was racking up damage while I was over on the payload making sure they couldn't inch it home. So the orb's POV would've been a lot more interesting, really?

I had been backfill - enemy team had already made the first checkpoint - and had come in as Pharah, and we almost held them at the second, but a few of them figured out that Pharah as a fucking problem and took me down. Then, inside, well, Pharah's not the best choice, so Moira.

solarbird: (Default)

All the play I'm getting in with Moira thanks to ending up on Aussie servers so much lately (because I'm playing with Aussies) means I think I'm starting to get the hang of her, a bit. I don't enjoy playing her as much as I enjoy Widowmaker or Pharah or Tracer, but I can certanly be effective.

I'm going to end up adding a Moira icon, aren't I? ffffff

solarbird: (tracer)

if i'm so good at giving bastion the bad suc howcome i don't spit bullets after?

solarbird: (tracer)

Occasionally I end up on Australian servers. That's when I play Moira, because aim is... difficult... with quarter-second lag. But with her? Eh. Aim is overrated. (•̀ᴗ•́)

solarbird: (Default)

This wasn't even random heroes. Yeah, I'm starting to play Moira a little. You know. When you just don't feel like having to aim. 乁( ̄ ³ ̄)ㄏ
