On the way home from errands just now, I got to listen to NPR report the accounting changes today as "part of an attempt to improve transparancy" when it is in fact exactly the opposite. Very tasty!

Oh, come on, you know they have to parrot what their sourecs tell them or else they'll lose access and it'll be All Fox, All The Time. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/01/fox-news-claims-9-of-top_n_181878.html)

And remember: those people are the oppressed minority.

The way I heard it, they were saying it went against efforts to improve transparency. Though I did tune in in the middle of the report (and thanks to you I knew what they were talking about).

Oddly enough, the segment on "All Things Considered" made no mention of it. 5PM EDT.

Given the timing....it could also mean some of their own people got a chance to look at the report and went "oh, no, this is just....wrong."

That may have been a fairly early report, and basically written by someone who wasn't thinking about what they were editing/writing.
