Date: 2006-01-23 02:53 am (UTC)What I can't understand is why everyone isn't pushing for nuclear power? It's cheap, clean, non-polluting, and we don't have to worry about embargo's. It would help us move away from oil and gas dependencies in a bog way too.
(Please nuke the anon one. For some reason LJ logged me out...)

Date: 2006-01-23 03:05 am (UTC)Only if you want breeder reactors everywhere. (Mind you: I think we're gonna need 'em. I'm not looking forward to that. But I'm just sayin'.)
I'm seriously hoping some of the lower-temperature seawater thermal works out past demonstration projects.

Date: 2006-01-23 03:13 am (UTC)Maybe we need breeder reactors, I wouldn't be surprised at all, but lets face it, nothing is cheaper, cleaner or safer than nuclear power, and unless someone figures out fusion soon (unlikely) nothing is going to be for a long time. All these 'non-polluting eco-friendly' energy idea's are just pipe dreams and will never be as cheap as oil, even when they start having to ship it in solid gold barrels.
