If you have to replace a bathtub fixture, make SURE to get one with a valved shower diverter, and not one of those pull-the-rod-up-and-it-leaks-a-bit-through-the-tub-spighot thing that you usually see. Particularly if you're in an area with weak water pressure.

We've got one of the pull up systems, but have very high water pressure, mmmmm wonderfull long hot powerfull showers, with the showerhead set to massage.
