viLOLin update
Nov. 22nd, 2008 02:25 pmSo, when I got this viLOLin, I was playing with it and the bow seemed to be acting a little weird even beyond my complete lack of knowledge, and the internets seemed to be saying that the bow was both over- and under-rosined. I talked with
kathrynt about it, and she said that can happen when a bow isn't used for a long time then it can get into a state where it needs really tiny rosin crystals to work between the scales of the air to replace lost oils, and to get that, you just have to play it a while.
Anyway, in the last couple of days it's started acting like I'd expect a bow to act, particularly so this morning, and it's not shedding rosin inappropriately on strings anymore, and it's generally just kind of behaving. So that's nice.
My playing skill is still negligible, of course. Tho' I have started playing around with a piece that's kinda derived from one of my flute pieces, and that's kind of fun.
Not having regular performance venues is kind of annoying/frustrating. But I've done some listening to myself in recordings and I think I've done my vocals some good. Not enough good yet, but some.
