The Trump administration is preparing to designate transgender people as “violent extremists” in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder, two national security officials tell me.

Under the plan being discussed, the FBI would treat transgender suspects as a subset of the Bureau’s new threat category, “Nihilistic Violent Extremists” (NVEs).

This is, yes, OBVIOUSLY, a duplication of Putin’s moves to designate target groups as “extremist organisations,” whether there’s an organisation or not, as “LGBT” was designated a couple of years ago, leading to the de facto re-illegialisation of LGBT people and large scale prosecutions.

Every other kind of queer is probably gonna be next.

Probably "next".

Usually the bad guys try to attack one small-ish group at a time. That way the targeted group can't win alone. If everyone else thinks "well, they're only going that far, so I'm safe" and doesn't actively defend the current targets, the bad guys can pick off a lot of small groups before the remaining mass realizes they'll be targeted soon.

Yes, and there should be a zeroeth line in that poem: "First they came for the trans folks...." although that wasn't the term that would have been used back then. We were among their first targets before they went after other people. I'd expect the same sort of progression if they succeed in their goal of rounding up all trans people into extermination camps.

I just came from Tumblr, after opening it up to check it after a few days, to see people are still on the same bullshit, and closed it again. It was literally that meme where Grandpa Simpson walks into the Burlesque House, hangs up his hat, sees Bart, grabs his hat, turns back around, and leaves. I'm really tempted to just delete it again. It's the reason I ditched Bluesky, too. It's like the worse things get, the more they sneer.
