More transcription today - I'm really slow at this. One (quite long) piece I transcribed largely as recorded, the other (incomplete) piece I mostly rewrote, which is okay, except it didn't really have an ending before and it doesn't have any more of one now. Also, it just kind of wanders around rather than doing anything, a problem I have in general.

If you counted fragments and variations as separate songs, which I really don't, I'd have 12 pieces in some form of transcription, and another 3-4 or so left to transcribe, quality, um, not really remembered right now. It's late and I'm sleepy.

(I have sadly little confidence in any of these, of course. But the point of this is to write at all, rather than write only that which is good. I have my own mountain of junk to drill through before I can start getting to any good bits, as one does.)

In unrelated news, Battlestar Galactica: Razor holds up well in a second viewing. I'm also quite glad I got to see it on a large theatre screen for all the tasty tasty eye candy, even if HDTV-resolution stuff looks a little videogamey that large.

Jam tomorrow, here. I will show stuff to people and they can mock it.

Jamming group kinda liked the first song I showed that was thematically complete and kinda wants to perform a version of it. So I kinda need to make a coherent arrangement now. I guess there's a song somewhere in that noise.

So that's kinda neat. I seem to have some weird issues around writing music (not the fault at all of anybody around here, people who know me well can assume it's part of All That) so it's, um, weird. Also, what I write mostly tends to seem kind of obvious to me. ([livejournal.com profile] kathrynt, you haven't seen this piece. Generally fwiw I think the one you've seen is the least of the lot from this month. At least of the bits that have enough notes to care about. But I dunno, maybe it's not.) Hopefully this means I will be embarrassed by this work later if I get to a point where I'm writing actual music. ^_^

Also, I need to make more flutes. In particular I need to make another C-major/E-minor flute in the same(ish) octave as my current one. That would be useful. I have a materials idea or two about that to try. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper and I are thinking of going to this new filk convention in January. It's local. I'm kind of thinking of making some flutes (on a speculative basis) and trying to sell 'em there. But I dunno. Opinions on that are welcome.
