Same-sex marriage ban rejected in Arizona in historic first1-7 doesn't sound good until you realise hey - you're comparing it to 0-18. And all the margins were closer. There's a step forward somewhere in those two steps back...

Arizona became the first state to defeat an amendment to ban same-sex marriage Tuesday, bucking a strong national trend by refusing to change its constitution to define marriage as a one-man, one-woman institution. The measure also would have forbidden civil unions and domestic partnerships.

this and that but not much else
Nov. 8th, 2006 09:05 pmThe initiative I worked for, I-937, appears to have passed. I am pleased. It's not the best of all possible initiatives, but I thought it was much better than not. So if you voted for it - thanks.
Meanwhile, I haven't posted enough pictures lately. Here, have one! I guess this is technically a leafpic, but I admit that's kind of pushing it:

Tree and House
Sunday's token: 0.1
Monday's miles: 1.6
Tuesday's miles: 2.5
Wednesday's miles: 2.0
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1402.2
Miles out of Rivendell: 944.2
Miles out of Lothlórien: 490.2
Miles past Rauros Falls: 72.3
Miles to Isengard: 389.4
The last thing you see before you die is... The Jacksons. Apparently.
So, um, what's up with me? I think I did okay on my second bio midterm today; I didn't have time to go through and validate my multiple-choice answers - I have left-right swapping issues - so I probably lost a few points there from that alone. And I think I got "haploid" and "diploid" reversed in my head for part of the test. To wit: crap. But I think I did adequately on the whole. An A would be very nice, since there are three midterms but only the best two get taken for your grade, and I'd like some extra time to give to chem review before I make up that final from the summer. :-p
Japanese, on the other hand, is well into vocabulary and I am losing ground. This is not so good. Registration is next week and I'm wondering whether I should enter Japanese 112 or not - my default is yes, but I'm thinking about it. On the other hand, it may not be up to me - I'll be very low in the registration queue, I get to register just about last - and there's only one section of Japanese 112 next quarter. Normally that's fine, since the two fall J111 sections weed out like mad and collapse down into one nicely - but not this year. This year, everybody's getting A++++++ and staying in the course. YAY.

Two and Fence
(Strictly speaking, that's not a fence. It's not even like a fence. It's more like a telephone pole, which, um, it is. ha HA - entendre!)
And I have Friday off classes for Armistice Day. I will celebrate by, um, fixing a towel rack, a hinge, and emptying the bus stop trash at Murkworks South. Yay?
