Fujitsu power ports kind of suck
Nov. 10th, 2006 11:17 pmMy Japanese spelling rules are interfereing with my already-b0rken English spelling rules. gi'' requires tenten, dammit. Except for the part where they don't exist in English.
Also,
annathepiper's laptop is now fixed. We found instructions for taking it apart on the net which included handy photos and were part of one of many, many threads talking about how much Fujitsu power ports suck. And they do! Unfortunately, the reinforcing technique they were talking about doesn't work on Anna's exact model, so I made some velcro tricks to keep power-cord strain off the connection in the future, because surface-mount component soldering is hard - or, at least, risky, with other components too close to the attach point that usually fails first.

My day off got eaten by fixing things at murkworks south and trying to deal with the front steps here. To wit: crap. (The stairs are very smooth and get really slick in a heavy frost, much less snow. I want to paint them with industrial texture paint so that you can use them without dying even when it frosts.)
Oh well. At least I returned some books I'd borrowed forever and a day ago.
