It got down to 0.9C last night. What. the. fuck? I heard they got snow in Redmond. After how hot it was on Friday, that just ain't right. It's also about 4C below the forecast.

But on the good side, we got a lot of well-needed rain yesterday. I was worried that I might have to water things. In April.

Yesterday looked like this, only with more rain

I forgot to mention about Friday's biking: King County got one of those "The speed limit is X, you are going Y" signs that tracks your speed with RADAR! and set it up on the trail about midway through Lake Forest Park. It made me laff. I was going 12! The speed limit was 15. PHEW I SURE FEEL BETTER!

(Maybe the RADAR caused the rain! zomg sekrit anti-global-warming action!)

Actually, I was pretty pleased that at the 10 mile point my cruising speed was still 12, particularly given that it was in Lake Forest Park. LFP is kind of becoming the reliable point on the trail for asshattery; aside from Ms. Don't-Do-That-In-Your-Car and the speed limit radar, it's also where they've put about eight zillion STOP! signs (a pair at almost every private driveway, because apparently private cars have massive precedence over higher-traffic bike and pedestrians), and is the only place I've seen them having local cops pulling people over for not coming to a full stop at completely empty driveways. They've picked up this real 'tude about the trail lately, and I have to say, I do not like it.

I'd be fine with YIELD signs. It's the come-to-a-complete-stop bullshit every 30 feet that pisses me off.

At least they aren't trying to sue to have it removed or something, unlike those East Sammamish bastards, who can eat it, you guys knew that right of way was there when you bought the houses, now shut up and deal with it.

Meanwhile, have some more flowers. ^_^

Please never refer to the modern Republican party as the Party of the Rule of Law again. You may add this to the list that includes "Party of Fiscal Discipline," "Party of Small Government," and "Party of Responsibility." Thanks.

Bush challenges hundreds of laws
President cites powers of his office

By Charlie Savage, Globe Staff | April 30, 2006

WASHINGTON -- President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.

Okay! So we had salad from a few plants from the assortment I've been growing in my first ever vegetable garden. It had a lot more taste than the bag salad we usually get, and I realised after that the association I'd had with good-restaurant salad wasn't dressing related at all, it was greens-related. Plus it was super-fresh, being, well, cut off the plants about an hour before we ate it.

The garden bed

Anyway, it was pretty neat to me, I've never planted food that I've then proceeded to grow and eat. (Aside from apples from the tree at Murkworks South, but while I tended that tree a bit, I certainly didn't plant it.) Hopefully I cut the leaves down right and the three plants I cut down (leaving 2cm for growback) will indeed grow back as hoped.

Chop Chop!

It's weird how tiny the leaves look outside, then how when you get inside, they're ginormous. In that way, they're very much like the TARDIS. This confuses me, as I did not expect lettuce to be key to space-time.

We're Gonna Need a Bigger Plate

Anyway, that's a lot of fuss for just a bit of salad, but it was new to me. And tasty!
