So hey Lazyweb – I got an answer for my previous question, but here’s another:

How do you make modern WordPress NOT smash all your separate lines and paragraphs together into one hideous pseudo-paragraph on the front page?

Does no one at WordPress think formatting matters anymore? Honestly, it looks like complete garbage. Pics attached.

What my previous post looked like in single-post view
The hideous, illegible bullshit WordPress turned it into for the blog’s front page.

Who the fuck would want this, ever? I mean, honestly, what the actual fuck. It’s not this theme, it’s every theme I’ve tried. EVEN BETTER: If I don’t put an extra space at the end of single-spaced lines, it takes out the newline and replaces it with NOTHING, cramming words together likethis.

I think I see what's going on. The most common setup is for the front page to have just the title, one image, and an excerpt (usually the first paragraph; in some places it's called a "snippet preview") for each post, with a "read more" link to the actual post. The excerpt is also what a search engine is supposed to show for the post.

I don't see an obvious way to show the whole post, with formatting, in place of the excerpt. Which means that it probably requires a plugin, if it's even possible.

Ugh! Yeah -- I must have avoided that problem by accident due to my weird workflow. WordPress doesn't handle hard line-breaks at all well.
