Do you see any remaining value in Facebook, other than (say...) creative culture-jamming?

The stupid, it doth verily burn!

Uh, yeah. :(

I do rather suspect that some excessive number of people feel the same way about their privacy, as they do en concernant the American constitution and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms: "don't use it anyway, so who cares if it's taken away?"

Going out to throw stones in the harbour, now.

Ditto... I'd delete it if only I could tempt everybody else I know to join somewhere non-evil instead.

Dreamwidth is an excellent candidate. Quite a few of us are already up there...

I have actually abandoned a couple of friendships because people weren't willing to stay in contact any way other than StalkBook, and I won't touch the thing.

Now, see, this is why I don't follow fads, and am rarely an early adopter. :-)

Oh Facebook. :/
My friends are always up my back about why I use a fake name and don't throw real pictures up there (unless I am a cartoon bear in real life, who's to say), and now even that is not enough to make the creepy-crawly feeling go away.

Assume anything you put anywhere on Facebook is 100% public, no matter what.

While their dedication to 'privacy' is basically non-existent, if you follow this simple rule, it's a fine social networking service.

This.

I have an account so that my web presence is findable by potential employers. *shrug*

For that, on your behalf, I am very sorry.

Also, by the bye, your user-icon is great! Where did you find/make it?

I am, uh, a huge residents geek.
