ooooooookay so

loooooong time ago I did a lot of work on a CSS overlay for Dreamwidth’s Neutral Good/Evil styles to make them work properly on mobile devices as well as Desktop. If you apply the CSS as Custom CSS to your journal, it keeps working on desktop and starts working right on mobile. All the nightmare noise from Dreamwidth’s old mobile-ish style went away, it got way more information dense, and most of all

no

goddamn

horizontal

scrolling

ever.

Not even with the navbar turned on. It’s stupidly tall, but it no longer scrolls.

(That was some work.)

I handed off that code to Dreamwidth ages ago, but they’ve got a tiny staff and I don’t know how important it ever was to them or even how much made it into the codebase.

Turns out tho’… seems people are still using mine? And I just got an issue report. And I have an edit that fixes it on my machine. And I fixed a subject line issue while I was at it.

sooooo uhhhhhhhh

I guess I’m dropping a new release!

Anybody want to test Version 0.85 before I make it official?

I made a Lackadaisy Cats mood icon set from the set of emojis they sent out to kickstarter backers.

Hey, yeah, I'm very much aware that the latest Dreamwidth code push broke some parts of Coexistence Alpha, mostly in navbar 2. So far nothing's functionality-impairing, but I do intend to get on it soon. Unfortunately, this week is a mess so it'll be a few days. But I am aware and planning a rev.

We are getting seriously close to a finished product here.

Coexistence Alpha: version 0.845

Issue: some external images were staying large and forcing horizontal scrolling on some phones. Fixed.

This is the latest drop of Coexistence Alpha, a unified mobile and desktop style for Dreamwidth. many more details here, including instructions on how to use the style.

It's a very small upgrade but it fixes a problem, I think. I hope. It seems to, anyway. Try it and tell me!

EXPLORE THE BLEEDING EDGE: 0.844alpha

If this is new to you: this is the Make Dreamwidth Work on mobile and desktop at the same time. And except for new post and home, apply this CSS according to directions, and it just does. See the pinned dev post for how.

UPDATE 2018/12/4: QUESTION 1: Yes, this respects your colours; I just like green.

UPDATE 2019/2/6: QUESTION 2: Yes, this sat fallow for a while, but no longer. We have a second RC.

You Want Mobile Dreamwidth, Artie? You Got It.

Coexistence Alpha: a mobile-friendly CSS patchset for Neutral Good - v0.846 RELEASE CANDIDATE TWO
(2019/2/6)

This is a fully-responsive mobile-ready theme modification layer intended to make Dreamwidth's default style fully functional on both mobile and desktop devices wherever it can be applied. Features include journal and reading pages with near-zero horizon scrolling on mobile, including in long comment reply cascades, and more-comfortable comment creation, including on iOS.

To install: Choose style "Neutral Good" for "Practicality" in the journal style selector. Copypasta all of the linked CSS into the Advanced Seettings Custom CSS box, and save. (This may require a desktop device.) Apply "your style" to everything you can.

This build includes Navbar 2, which is mostly cosmetic but somewhat mobile-aware upgrade of the Navbar.
