Anna's got a novelette in the three-writer collection Defiance, released today(!) by Drollerie Press. It'll be on Amazon soon, or you can buy it from the publisher website linked above. (This is her second release, the first being the novel Faerie Blood, available several places, just follow the link.)

Oh, yay! Anna and Laura Anne Gilman, I am so there (well, I am there as soon as it gets to Amazon, because it's the easiest format to get onto my iPhone, which is where I like to read ebooks). Thanks for the heads-up!

Thank you, hope you'll enjoy the stories in the release!

Out of general interest, are you reading books in the Kindle app on your iPhone? I ask because I read books on my iPhone as well and I tend to gravitate to Stanza. :) And do please be advised that it may be a while before the thing shows up on Amazon; there was a big lag between when Faerie Blood was released and when it came out on Amazon, finally.

Yeah, I'm using the Kindle app. I use Stanza also, but mostly for reading classics from the free libraries, and books published by Baen, since they make it really easy to get their books into Stanza on the iPhone. I haven't found other publishers' books to be as easy to get into Stanza, but maybe I'm doing it wrong -- how do you go about it?

I've got a whole bunch of Baen's freebies in Stanza, yeah. :)

If you have Baen freebies, you probably already know about the Stanza desktop app and sharing those down to your iPhone, yes? If you know how to do that, then you can use the same procedure for Drollerie Press books. A lot of our more recent releases, including mine, are in ePub format and those play very nicely with Stanza.

Some of Drollerie's older releases though are only in Microsoft Reader, PDF, and Mobi, so those are a bit harder. I've found that PDFs don't play nicely with Stanza at all so I wound up installing a completely separate app to read anything in PDF format (the one I'm using right now is GoodReader). But I try to buy recent Drollerie releases in ePub.

Also, there's the option of buying directly from the Stanza Fictionwise store, which will let you download purchases straight into Stanza on the iPhone. I've done that a few times, and that also has given me the opportunity to download backup copies of those purchases onto my computer later.

Hope some of this is helpful!

Actually, one of the reasons I like Baen is that you can connect right to their library from the Stanza app, and then you can pull down any of the freebies, or anything you've purchased on the Webscriptions website (which Safari for the iPhone handles okay) right into the app, without ever going through the desktop version. But with some pre-planning I can handle going through the desktop version and syncing it up; I'll have to try that.

Oh okay cool I wasn't aware that Baen lets you download directly, I'll have to try that! Thanks for the tip. :)

They've got a page (http://www.webscription.net/t-iphone.aspx) that tells you how to set it up from inside Stanza. Once you've done that once, it's very handy.

I'll have to try putting stuff into the desktop version of Stanza. I think we both learned something here! :)
