Here, please enjoy photos from last night's Leannan Sidhe CD release concert! I gotta tell you, I miss the Strowler Nights lighting and in particular the Strowler nights clock in concert photoshoots. That thing was a prop of epic awesomeness. But there are some good shots in here anyway, even if I had to have a lot of 1/10th second exposures and the like.

By the way, since I looked at the pictures I figured I should probably check out the music at the official website (http://leannansidhe.com/) in case I wanted to get it. I listened to the first couple of tracks. It's certainly not bad, but I don't really like her voice; didn't seem to have enough impact for my preference. Obviously she's an excellent singer, just not my cup of tea, so if anyone else reading this hasn't heard the music, you should probably check it out too.

I wish Leannan had been just a little more still for the cover shot (the one I printed reduced, above). That's not camera motion, that's her moving - I really like it and I'd love if it it were just a tiny bit less motion-blurred.

I think maybe the best single shot in the whole thing is Katie Tinney (1) - I'm really happy with that as a piece of faux period portraiture. I also really like this shot of Alec, mostly again as portrait, and Torrey, S00j, and Tony as a technical exercise. (I enjoy shooting really-long-shutter handheld, mostly 'cause I can get away with it. XD )

I kinda like the slightly-not-sharp look. Print that on some textured paper and it would look VERY arty. Maybe even take-the-show quality. Srsly. It's a very good shot. That whole thing was awesome, and I'm sorrier than I thought to have missed it. At least I got to see the tag end of it on streaming.

I've still got all that feather stuff I used to wear. I should pull that back out; I stored it decently so it's probably still in reasonable shape.

Green is pretty hard to get to. How well does your hair bleach out?

No idea! Probably REALLY BADLY. I've only ever done opaques for costuming.

you're right, that clock *was* epic. Hell, Strowlers was epic. saga-lacious, even. But still. stealthcello's living room fails to suck as an emergency backup holographic rain venue... :)

Oh, it's a fine venue, particularly as a backup. It's really cool being able to have the outdoor stage and an indoor retreat location that's large enough for the job. Those tapestries she puts up as backdrop are fun to shoot, particularly in low light - I like how they get reflective and metallic. It's just that clock was amazing, as a photo prop, and I had more flexibility with the brighter stage lighting.

Thanks! A few of those are half-second. A couple of the Strowler Nights photos were a full second, all handheld.

My arms may have issues, but stability is not one of them. Pain, yes. Stability, thankfully, no. ^_^

The people are, of course, moving a lot. But note that the clockface in the background, which doesn't move, is perfectly sharp.

I was pretty unhappy with the way the lighing turned out by the time it got dark and I could actually see it, but by then there wasn't anything I could do.
I disassembled & reassembled the lights sunday after the show, so next time I'll be able to swap the spot bulbs for floods, which is what I would have done if I could have. I also need to find a spot online to order gels, so I have a choice other than amber-y pink, nothing, or something from a DJ pack.

Oh, it was fine for the actual purpose of holding a show! Don't take my whinging as srs bsns. ^_^

otoh, any excuse for new toys is a good excuse XD

And honestly? Challenging environments make me work harder, particularly in photography, which helps. So there you are.
