Wow, I just saw the brief the Obama administration filed in Federal court supporting DOMA! It argues for every social-conservative and right-wing talking point, including queers not being discriminated against because they could marry an opposite-gender person like they damn well ought to anyway, being queer ain't like bein' black so don't even think about Loving v. Virginia, and for that matter, Lawrence v. Texas doesn't really count for much either. And it dances along theoconservative talking points by using child-rape and incest-cases as examples of why queer marriage shouldn't be recognised! Also, we cost too much money in social security that shouldn't be wasted on fags anyway!

Add in explicit references to Christianity and it could be a Focus on the Family brief. Oh, and - unsurprisingly - the pledge made by Senator Obama to work to repeal DOMA has been yanked from the White House website. People who like to talk about framing should be aware that this now frames the "liberal" position as being exactly the same as the "conservative" position on this issue; Mr. Obama is making it safe for the Democratic party to go on hatin' on the queers, just like his friends in the GOP.

FUCK YOU, BARAK. FUCK YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING PARTY. FUCK ALL OF YOU.

Man I'm glad I didn't get suckered by this self-rightous fuck.

"So, [livejournal.com profile] cow, now that Obama won the election, are you planning to move back to the States?"
^ actual question I got a few times ^

I think the first time I was asked that, I actually laughed in their face. And then felt bad and apologized, 'cuz the Canadian maple donuts are reprogramming my brain

According to Andrew Sullivan, the job of writing the brief was given to W Scott Simpson, a Bush administration holdover and devout Mormon. So that explains the thorough job of regurgitating anti-gay talking points.

Obama is a right-centrist, always was. His positions so far have been pretty much continuations of the Bush policy. So yeah, "F the man!"

Obama's an authoritarian. Regulate your economic behavior, regulate your personal behavior.

James Pietrangelo II, the former Army infantryman and lawyer whose case the high court declined to review, reserved most of his ire for President Obama instead of the court. “He’s a coward, a bigot and a pathological liar,” Pietrangelo said in an interview with TIME shortly after the high court declined to hear his appeal.

Tho honestly, much as I grew to progressively dislike the guy the more I researched him last year and the more I saw of his campaign, and much as I was pretty convinced he was privately homophobic, even I didn't think he'd go as far as this brief.

And that he personally didn't write the brief? Not vaguely resembling an excuse.

Wow. I'm getting the distinct impression that he's made a decision to toss LGBT rights under the truck to appease conservatives and appear "centrist". That and state secrets. :(

The other day I made a comment on another post (http://solarbird.livejournal.com/839754.html) about the current President being better than average. Now, my comment was actually intended to... oh, forget it. My intentions at that time don't matter very much--today I'm feeling dirty for making that comment. I hereby retract it and apologize.

They say you can measure a man by how he treats those who can't help him, and those who can't hurt him. President Obama is obviously a much smaller man than his grand gestures would imply.
