Okay! So last night. Laaaaaaast night.

Not so good. I had been performing Where is your Heaven adequately as an instrumental piece and had been rehearsing it a lot since rewriting it on Thursday, but fundamentally I didn't have the new lyrics well enough in my head, and so it was a total mess. Also: I lose vocal mic discipline in that circumstance. (Weirdly, I thought I was getting picked up okay from hearing myself on the monitors, but nobody could hear me.) So the good part was that my botched-up lyrics didn't get heard much anyway!

Outbirds was a lot better, despite being even newer (musically) than Heaven and despite being on a new instrument. I still have a lot more work to really get into the song, tho'; it was a competent performance, if not particularly outstanding. It's a lot easier of a song, too, which is why I scheduled it second.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that I'm not good enough yet to take something that new onto stage that quickly. Well - I am, instrumentally. But I'm not, yet, with vocals. Lesson learned.

In other news, the neighbour dogs have been going BAUBAUBAUBAUABAUBAUBAU for three days straight. And today I have a headache. I think I'm going to have to have some words with the Adams family next door.

Cue: "They're creepy and they're kooky...."

"it was a competent performance" is a lie. It was VERY good. One of the more enjoyable for me actualy.
