OKAY so if you upgrade your iTunes purchases from the old DRM versions to the new, shiny, higher-bit-rate non-DRM version, be aware that you may not get the same edit in the upgrade. e.g., my Music: entry for this post. The DRM version is a shorter cut (4:13) vs. the non-DRMed version (4:44) and I prefer the shorter edit, and it's a good thing I told the upgrade software to keep my old versions.

I wonder if maybe that's a bug in the way they lookup the track. Like maybe they're accidentally getting a different version from a different album.

Sorta reminds me of the business of changing chipsets regularly on (among other things) PCMCIA devices.... whaddyamean, a Foobie Bletch 2000 rev 3.0 ain't the same card as rev 2.4? whaddyamean, you can't just stuff the proprietary device driver we shipped with it on your Open Source box and expect it to work perfectly? whaddyamean, you don't believe in bowing down before the Man and rendering up all your fool's gold every time they fix something that shouldn't have been broken in the first place?

Jive turkeys.

Oh, uhm?
Are they offering this for free, or do you have to buy the new non-DRM versions?
