Date: 2009-01-26 06:46 am (UTC)Then Thought You Knew wasn't as bad as I thought it was (listened to recording), but my tempo on Stars was just WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING PICK A TEMPO AND STICK TO IT. (I've been having occasional weird problems with tempo on it practising and they all showed up with extra suck.) And, again, tonality problems.

Date: 2009-01-26 07:03 am (UTC)but tempo, best suggestion I can offer, for whatever it is worth, is to listen to WWV on the shortwave radio, while in as relaxed state as you can be, and while doing that, do some random strumming. Idea here (I use keyboards but same idea) is that hearing the strumming in the opening of a performance re-anchors your memory to the WWV timebase (the one-second hacks that they broadcast); adapt from there to your needed rythym. Decidedly unorthodox, but I learned it from a friend in a Celtic folk-rock band down south, it worked for him, and it works for me.
edit to add: my friend down there takes DMAE, so that points at the issue at hand.
good fortune to thee, as ever.
