Local people, be aware: forecasters are calling for another round of snow on Saturday, followed by a dangerous ice storm, followed by possibly dangerous winds overnight Saturday and on Sunday. They're saying to stock up on food and to be prepared for power outages.

So Longestnight is looking like it's going to be Long, in bad ways. Be prepared.

flemco convinced me a while ago that there's really no good reason not to keep a stock of non-perishable food and bottled water around at all times. I've got a two week store for myself that takes up maybe a few cubic feet and cost perhaps $30 to put together.

Especially on the West Coast or other Earthquake prone areas, since those give you no time whatsoever to prepare.
