Oh my, lookie what [livejournal.com profile] elfs found!

eta: Also, note what Bob Cesca found today.

eta2: Andrew Sullivan implies that an announcement - whoever it will be - will be tonight. But MSNBC is reporting the announcement is tomorrow. CNN reports a big McCain ad against Obama will air during Obama's acceptance speech and that the ad will be "unprecedented" but that the campaign does not specify how.

Specifically, the comedian. Which Jim Ward were you thinking?

There was this guy at MS when I was there who made it his job to get temps fired for looking at / interacting on the public message boards. He tried it with me, he actually DID get a friend fired.

No idea if he's still there. He used to boast about his MASSIVE SCHWAB ACCOUNT so we nicknamed him Jim "Rico Schwabbie" Ward. What was ironic was how he would post to external message boards about his underwear fetish, USING HIS MS EMAIL ACCOUNT. Ah, those were the days.

What was especially delightful was how he insisted to Kevin that he'd apologized to me for trying to get me fired... and I never received the email. Why? Because the IDIOT sent it to a-elizab instead of a-elizap. Poor Elizabeth Brown probably wondered why this blue badge pinhead at Hotmail was sending her apology emails.

He never did admit that he'd fucked up on the "apology" email, either. Insisted that I was lying. OF COURSE ALL CONTRACTORS LIE.

...Steve Poizner, etc. For the record, he doesn't like McCain as a candidate and thinks the Republicans would be better off losing this election and having four years to "regroup," basically. Anyway, he wrote about 45 minutes ago:

Word going around bigtime that McCain will take Leiberman, and will announce that he is only going to serve one term.

The idea is that McCain will then pound away at the message of "im not going to be beholden to a re-election campaign that every new administration starts the first day in office...my entire focus for 4 years will be to fix this country and put it back on the right track".

The reason this rumor has gone around hot this morning was because they sent out poll numbers to major donors and the like, and within it are Leiberman testing, and one term testing.....and the numbers are through the effin roof.

Im not saying this is a given, but its a hot one right now.

I can't really say it's a "public" source but the guy has been posting over on a basketball board's politics subsection for years and we all know he's been involved with politics within the state. He's helped work on various bills and one of the very recent things is the proposal for some mileage-based rates for auto insurance.

Bit of a gloating, elitist a-hole snob in my eyes and he's not really public on the board with his real name, but every so often he shares a bit of information I haven't had reason not to believe. Those of us on the board generally know when he's just screwing with people by being insulting vs. saying something real.

Not sure if these numbers are state or nationwide.

(I know - politics on a basketball fansite? But there's been enough non-basketball talk that we had sub-areas set up for politics and other off-topic things)

Hard to say completely. I'm a little biased in that I don't like the guy and most of the time he's just dicking around with the rest of us because it's got a more liberal bent to the forum than conservative (and he's more conservative), but when he puts that stuff aside and is straight with us he's usually trustworthy.

But yeah, I wouldn't be saying it to you if I didn't think there was some truth to it. The Lieberman rumor is already gaining steam but it's more the 'four years only, no second term' part that could be even more interesting.

On the other side, the Obama camp could probably run with it as "Or 12 years of Bush-type stuff."

Someone else just wrote, "Ya got any bridges for sale? This has about as much chance as Hillary getting selected as VP by Obama..."

And the guy said, "It would be fairly shocking, which i suppose is the point. Not likely, i agree."
