Date: 2008-07-25 02:49 pm (UTC)Does the pick material affect the tone of the instrument? It would seem to me that something relatively hard like metal would have a sharper, perhaps more grating sound when plucking the strings than would a softer material such as plastic.

I already lose strings more often than I'd like - I have to play quite loudly in these open-air markets, and while I do have the loudest mandolin evar, apparently, I still really do need to go to. With a metal... I think it'd be bad.
