Scary stupidity surfaces

There's a little bit of movement out there to try to declare the Iraq war a smashing success (as noted first here by
urbaniak), and in the face of spiraling oil prices, arguments that the US should invade more oil-rich countries specifically to take their oil. Mish Shedlock notes correctly that this is, at best, theft, and more to the point, insane. I have argued similarly myself in discussion forums where this comes up, noting that it is thuggery at its finest.
In other news Glenn outlines thebribery campaign contribution trail between the telecoms lobbying for retroactive amnesty and the members of Congress most directly involved. This effort is still ongoing; the attempt to close off the only semi-functional investigation into all this domestic spying continues apace. And in Item 6 here, Mr. Greenwald also notes that the administration has moved directly from denial of any administration involvement in the massive domestic military psi-op/domestic propaganda campaign to confirmation and insistence that it did nothing wrong, despite laws specifically banning such operations. There continues to be no coverage of this on the major networks, as far as I am aware.
