One of my favorite things about those jays is how they like to mimick the call of the red-tailed (or is it red-shouldered?) hawk, to scare away the competition.

I've never seen a red-shouldered hawk up here, but I imagine if they did live here, the Steller's jay would imitate them too.

Yep! Which squirrels have never visited, sadly. But the birds have gotten something from it, at least.
