...I just got recruited to be part of a massive choir - as in, as massive as they can make it - singing the last movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony at UW in April to, amoungst other people, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I need sheet music, stat. (8note doesn't have it.)

In other, previously-considered-awesome news, I've gotten busking go-head for this spring at the Lake Forest Park Commons Farmer's Market, so I guess I'll be playing for people there soon! Instrumental music will go over well there I suspect so I've got a little set already ready to go. ^_^

I'm also considering crashing some open mics at Mr. Spots Chai House (Thursdays, 8PM-late) and the monthly music open mic at Soul Food Books, the next being April 5th.

Not a suggestion I particularly like making but....if this is the part of Beethoven's 9th that I think it is (ie, the part everyone knows by heart), you can probably find sheet music from christian publishing houses that publish hymnals. The melody was appropriated for the hymn "Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee".
In that incarnation, it may be easier to find.

Only the main theme. There's a whole hell of a lot more to it than that, including 2 big fugues.

Part of Seeds of Compassion?
I'm working for an org that's heavily involved with that....my ED is on the steering committee.

w00t w00t and triple-w00t on the choir thing... I wonder what else His Grace is doing while he's in town. (And this time if I do end up going I'm going to get smart and go early!)

Hope the busking goes over well; that could be.... interesting... :)

I just got back from England: I was hoping to see some good busking there, but it was mostly 'living statues'. Meh.

Schott Music, which started the year Beethoven was born, has a score available here for €12,95 (http://www.schott-music.com/shop/1/show,46644.html).

If worse comes to absolute worst, Beethoven's manuscript is available online! (http://beethoven.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/de/sinfonien/9/4/1/1.html)

Tuesday, April 15 at something like 11 am. Bank of America Pavilion on the UW campus.

D: there will be sheet music available at www.seedsofcompassion.org/seattlesymphony/ -- page not up and running yet, but should be by Thursday the 6th.

Any other Seattle-area folks who want to sing should also check out that website.

Oh wow, congratulations! That's wonderful!

I know that paying for sheet music isn't ideal, but http://www.sheetmusicplus.com has a number (http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_detail.html?item=3489735&cart=341362615499193&cm_re=289.1.4-_-Results+Item-_-Title) of options (http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_detail.html?item=5803139&cart=341362615499193&cm_re=289.1.4-_-Results+Item-_-Title). That last is the vocal score.

huzzah!

So how does one get a "busking go-ahead"? Definitely interested in checking that out for myself. Do let us know when you'll be there, I'd love to come and watch you perform. I'd suggest that you might also want to have a flyer ready on doing flutes by commission, people may well ask about that. :)
