I DEMAND THE HEAD OF WHOEVER THE FUCK THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO COMBINE WATER PLUMBING INTERFACES AND DUAL 20A POWER JUNCTIONS INTO A SINGLE PACKAGE.
I MEAN SERIOUSLY WTF PEOPLE
the leak - in that package - has been found, the water plumbing has been disconnected, the refrigerator still runs, the subflooring is drying, the crawlspace is also drying (fans above and below, hopefully it'll dry sometime this year, the towels are in the washer. i didn't get knocked across the room because i know not to touch things i don't know what are yet. but jesus fucking christ what. the. fuck.
ETA: This is a refrigerator component, not part of the house proper. Underwriter Laboratories, you also got some 'splainin' t'do...

Date: 2008-02-28 09:12 am (UTC)I'm just glad you're OK. I've been hit with maybe-worse (6.6A at ~600V) and lived to tell but I wasn't very wet at the time; I don't remember actually scrambling out of the hole, just one second was "ow" and the next thing I remember was standing up on the edge of the hole, swearing as best my then-goody-two-shoes self knew how at the time... but still, there were more amps there if less volts, so I'm just as glad you didn't find out whether it would be a problem...
Part of me hopes you find the s.o.b.... but part of me thinks some of the neighbors might look askance at a head on a pike, even if the rest of me thinks he really does deserve it... not that there's any brain left in there to hold the head on the pike even before you get to him...

Date: 2008-02-28 06:03 pm (UTC)Mark and I have interesting kitchen stuff of late. Couple weekends ago my fridge suddenly became warmer than outside. I'm like "Hm, yogurt consistency of milk. Can't be good!" Can't afford a new fridge. Can't afford to lose food but luckily the 911 for that was put it on the front lawn. Looks kinda ghetto, but works!! Ended up being something about the defrost timer, but he fixed it easily and it's worked good since. (Note to self: You are a single mom. Never date someone who isn't highly mechanical EVER AGAIN EVER).
This weekend, he is installing his new tiny, mini little dishwasher (Miele). It's very teensy and cute for his 1932 kitchen which is pretty much all original, so the dishwasher is getting hid behind a panel that will still look like 1930s drawers.

Date: 2008-02-29 12:22 am (UTC)If you ever do need to get a replacement fridge for cheap, there's a place on Lake City Way that sells used appliances of decent quality for very reasonable prices. They get a lot of landlord business as a result. (They also sell new, but really, they're really for second-hand.) Remind me if you ever need that information.
Mark has a great kitchen. I've heard of those drawer dishwashers, I'm glad he's doing it right. You should post pics. ^_^
