The CIA destroys tapes of torture interrogations: nothing much happens. Congress says okay, just as with its ignored subpoenas.

The New England Patriots organisation destroys tapes made by the their team of New York Jets practices against league rules: Congress leaps into action with inquiry, meetings, witnesses hauled forward.

But then, it's important to investigate trivialities as a distraction when you have Mr. Bush's justice department moving against journalists involved in revealing his illegal domestic wiretapping programme, isn't it? Of course, there continues to be no investigation of the illegal wiretapping that was revealed.

OK, this crosses the line with Congress, and shows bayonets fixed with the Executive Branch. General quarters, all hands, man your battle stations. Firing point procedures, tubes one and two. I know a few people in high places, that I'm going to encourage to get on the stick about this... and if they take even one of us, I say we blow them straight to hell. With keyboards if we're lucky, literally if need be. I just pray it's the former.

OK, my stick in the hornet's nest is up. I deliberately didn't credit you this time, because, well...
