This was taken with Paul's Canon PowerShot A80, a nice little 4-megapixel Canon about, hum, three years old. I'm currently using a Canon G9, a newer model which has better lens geometry, better reds handling, lower noise levels, and up to 12mp resolution (tho' I usually shoot at 5mp) - generally, all the tasty goodness you'd expect from improved technology.

Yesterday's photos were taken with the G9; it shows up particularly well in "In the Details," a shot I don't really think I could've gotten with that kind of delicacy with the A80. (And that's pretty significantly compressed - the original is, well, better in the ways you'd expect.) Rrrar! was the A80, as was Carousel - note the blowout and strange edging in the red? That's the A80 giveaway. Compare and contrast to All the World Like Glass, particularly the less compressed version. That's what the G9 gives me that I can even show at web resolution. Similarly, see Leaves and Strawberry for other colours, and, again for delicacy, One, Alone. Those are also the G9.

Usual question from the ink-stained wretch of the Northwestern Approaches: what's this tree? (by now you can tell that I work with fossilised and very dead trees, not living ones....)

I don't actually know. But there are a lot of them around the Lake Forest Park Town Centre buildings. ^_^
