Following [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper, I report that I got l00t!
  • I am kind of still in shock that Chibi Somebody (^_^) reached back into my Amazon wanted list and got me 浜崎あゆみのLOVEppears. Utter shock. Yay!
  • A book! Drawing the Line, a book with a lot of newspaper comics history and interviews with cartoonists, by Gary Groth. I've only flipped through it so far, but it looks interesting.
  • A sewing machine! This was a huge surprise, mostly because I thought that was awfully spendy for this year, but now I can try some of my ideas. Yay! I totally did not see that one coming.
  • A really nice ceramic tureen. We never have anything for gravy, but now we do. Plus it can be used for other things. It's food-safe and we'll use it as intended, but I like it as an art object too.
  • A cute little fairy pen. ^_^
  • I'm also getting my bike fixed. It's fixable! I've also been told in no uncertain terms that I need a better bike - the one I have is a decent beginner's bike and I'm not a beginner anymore. But that'll have to wait at least a year, so this one's getting straightened out and a new rear wheel and a new rear gear set and a new chain and some new cables which will all be much less than a new bike. So I'm happy with that too. ^_^
Also, classes started today and were boring, mostly because we went ahead and had a sorta-"bio lab" that mostly consisted of yet another run-through of the lab safety rules and then an extra hour and a half of Chapter 25 lecture. Zzz. I think the labs this quarter are going to be even more dull than the labs in fall quarter, but I could be wrong. I hope I am. Why the hell do they teach botany only in the winter? Why not do it when, you know, plants are actually growing?

O well. Two more quarters at Shoreline, I can manage.

It's Seattle: there's still green things, so they must be growing.

I got a Hello Kitty Toaster: it toasts a picture of Hello Kitty on every slice!

Because anyone qualified to teach Botany is busy doing other things when the plants are actually growing!

The problem with Solarbird's friends list is that there are people on it who can give actual, reasonable answers. :-)

I really enjoyed botany when I took it at BCC (though they offer it most quarters, not just winter; I took it fall spring quarter and grew flowers in the greenhouse; you're going to have a harder time with that unless Shoreline has a hothouse).
