time for the big show

Well, okay, not until Saturday is it time for the big show, the last of the year as nobody will book anything but Christmas music in December and I gotta say: criminal elves don’t play that. And I won’t be playing any of that this weekend at The Lyons’ Den in Bothell, either, but I will be playing a big ol’ fleet of original music, a few covers I have permission to do – you can’t do most covers at the Den, they aren’t allowed, but I’m in the clear on these – and a few traditionals thrown in for good measure. The important bits:

• 8pm, Saturday, 20 November
• The Lyons’ Den
• Bothell, Washington, across from the post office. (Follow Main Street east one (1) block out of downtown, and it’s on the right)
• No cover/all ages, but I might play My Boyfriend late in the show if no kids are around XD

I’ve also made a new Trad O’ th’ Fortnight recording. If you sign up for the mailing list, you can download a high-bitrate mp3 just for signing up. It’s Great Big Sea, the trad song the band presumably got their name from. The arrangement on their self-titled album is Bob’s, but the song itself is trad, and my arrangement is all my own, so there. Besides, it’s fun to play, and I have no idea what the lyrics mean, and that makes it cool.

Christmas Music is...sorta schizophrenic.

There is good Christmas Music out there, and some of it is great, but the not-good Christmas Music? Is fucking terrible.

I never used to understand why people said they didn't like Christmas Music, because for a long time, I only heard the good stuff. Then I worked at Safeway during the Christmas Season, and it all became clear.

Also, the link in the E-mail for this Trad o' the Fortnight just seems to go to the Fanbridge homepage. Has anyone else had this problem, or is it on my end?

Yeah, the link in the Email just goes to http://www.fanbridge.com/ for me.

I turned NoScript off to see if that was interfering, same result.

When I follow the link in your comment, it goes to the signup page for the Mailing list, which I've obviously already done, since I'm getting the Emails.

Mac OS 10.6.5 running Firefox 3.6.12 if that matters.

I don't know why the link in the email would be failing, because I used their embedding code, but! I have one I know works and I'll remail the list with it and also ask if anybody else is having fail tiems.
