Occasionally, The Onion still makes me go Yay!

Distinctly less tired than yesterday, despite being one of Long Days, and, on top of it, a physical therapy workout session of some fair severity. I'm still glad Thursday is a light day tho'. (Only one class.) I've also talked with a tutor for Japanese so I can start working ahead of the class - I'm quite sure I'll need it. Because there's a pretty significant gap between end of class Thursday and tutoring session Thursday I'm considering being a conversation partner for a Japanese student learning English. The idea is that it would be reciprocal but that's not really possible given my current vocabulary limits.

I have no idea whether it's related, but I have been obsessing on 80s music lately. That, and a small assortment of progrock. I have no idea why.

Wednesday's miles: 2.6 includes p.t. treadmill
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1351.9
Miles out of Rivendell: 886.9
Miles out of Lothlórien: 431.9
Miles past Rauros Falls: 24.0
Miles to Isengard: 446.9

I mentioned earlier that my autumn veg garden - that I planted before the accident - wasn't going all that well, and that one row hadn't come up at all. It turns out that was the greens row, which was the one I actually wanted most. To wit: foo. The snow peas are doing fine and the carrots (now that I know for sure they are carrots)... about half of them didn't sprout, but those that did are starting to put up a few real leaves. At least they won't be shaded this time.

Oh, and the two plants that were in my backpack when I got hit and accidentally stayed in my backpack most of the time I was in the hospital; the sun-loving one seems pretty dead at this point, but there's still a little green so I haven't completely given up. The shade one is doing very well, thank you and seems very happy in its spot in the rockery. So that's one hardy little bastard of a plant. I think I like it. ^_^

It looks like every single day you get stronger and more capable. Awesome. May I make a suggestion? Dr. Lonnie Lowery, someone I know somewhat well, has been doing research for years into how high-protein diets affect rates of healing for different injuries. His results so far have been startling. I don't remember the full scope of his latest studies, but in burn victims, some rather severe, a very high protein diet sometimes accellerated the rate of healing by as much as 30%. You may want to think about adding some protein shakes a couple times a day - it definitely won't hurt any.

In other news, I may be able to get you a free bike in exchange for volunteering my services as a bike mechanic (a very crappy mechanic, but still) to a local charity for kids. I'm working on it and will let you know. Let me know the size and kind of bike you prefer and I'll be seeing what I can do in the next couple months. It wouldn't cost much for Alexis and I to ship.

I'm flying to Ohio today to compete in the HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) races. These are the bikes that set the land speed, 24 hour, and hour records. Should be massive fun - 6 races in 3 days of varying lengths. Wish me luck.
