Wednesday's miles: 12.3
Miles out of Hobbiton: 993.2

Both of Bush's appointees voted for the administration - Roberts while an appeals judge and sitting out this case, Alito now on the Supreme Court. So the idea of Presidential expansion of power by unitary decree takes a body blow, but only on the narrowest of margins. Read SOCTUSblog's summary, because the thing everybody is focusing on - the military tribunal farce - is only a small part of the ruling. The administration's torture policies, which I loathe and despise with every fibre of my being and which Congress banned but the Bush administration declared would continue, appear to be shot down as well.
Meanwhile, we're starting to see the slightest hint of rebellion against the idea that the President can ignore laws he doesn't like via signing statements (as per the torture prohibition), and complaints spread about his order allowing administration officials to let companies ignore Federal reporting laws, both of which being trends I hope will continue.
I liked this photo because it looks like it should be a repeating wallpaper border in an art deco home. But I'm not sure. Still, I think it would fit nicely and if it actually repeated I'd probably kind of like to put it somewhere. I suppose that's what photoshop would be for.
