That U-Turn in the middle of the express lanes would be a real adventure.

The shown bike path intersects with the actual bike path at only one point, pretty much by coincidence. That would be a fun one to try, given a jump ramp for the water crossing and lockpicking tools so you can get through buildings.

I also love that one of the commenters included a link to the Ballard Driving Academy video, which is hilarious. http://youtube.com/watch?v=jCNZoqb8laI if you haven't seen it recently.

Holy crap. I decided on Tuesday that I would never again use Google Maps, after it put me on Aurora Ave for one block, as part of FIVE consecutive right turns (how does that even work?) but that is just special.

But honestly... are their directions worse than Mapquest? I've gotten lost using Mapquest directions.

Mapquest routinely tries to trick me by instructing me to get on the Express Lanes and THEN take 520. As the two are mutually exclusive, barring perhaps a scenario in which I am driving a tank of some sort, I think that Mapquest really just wants to wait for the moment of anguish when I theoretically realize that 520 is over THERE, and I am over HERE, and then laugh maniacally to itself. I'm sure I disappoint it on a regular basis by not falling for its little ruse.

Using either Mapquest OR Google, I'll let it tell me how to get there, and then cut out the stupid backroads crap they insist on slipping in there, saving myself several minutes AND the pain of getting lost or ending up in a lake.

I just want to know what sadist is coming up with these directions. Sounds like a job I'd enjoy.

mwahahahahhaahahahaah

The ones on my uncle's deck had racing stripes on them...he's capture them, paint a stripe on them, and release them outside of town. He claimed he would kill them if they showed up again with the painted stripe, but he was a big ol' softy who couldn't really bring himself to do that.

Both Mapquest and Google Maps (and Yahoo Maps too) use the exact same mapping and navigation software on the back end. There's a company here in San Jose that makes the engine. There's a bunch of variables on it that each big web site can tweak, so some might appear less dumb than others, but it is all the same engine.
