Here's my picture of this strange mushroom-shaped cloud that [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat pointed out while we were biking this afternoon:

We were making jokes about how it looked like CapricaSeattle had just been n00ked by the Cylons, partly because of the cloud, and partly because the whole Woodinville area - something about the lighting just made it look like the sunny pre-war scenes on Caprica in BSG. But what's kind of funny is that several versions of this photo got shot all over the place. Here's one in [livejournal.com profile] seattle:

http://community.livejournal.com/seattle/3425846.html (click through, it's not my photo)

And here's the one caught by the Times, as spotted by [livejournal.com profile] tiff_seattle:

If this goes away, it was another, more dramatic view of that cloud

It's just kind of neat that everyone was going, "hey, wtf is that?" at the same time.

You could kind of see it from here, only it looked like a giant thunderhead waaay up there, with other clouds down lower in front of it.

I watched most of the growth sequence of that thing. It was big, over Kitsap County. And would be a good analogy of a moderate nuke cloud.

Oh, I'm glad you got a picture of it! I went out with Panda to run some errands and we spotted it while driving - I was so disappointed that I'd left my camera at his house! It was a truly bizarre formation.
