I took a bunch of photos of the light-projection stuff we did at MurkNorth for Halloween and then never posted them. So in the spirit of the season - just the previous season - here they are.

The House on the Hill

Oooh, spooky, huh? I've also got a bunch of close-ups. Paul made the ghost cut-out for this one; it's all garbage bags and small-bulb light fixtures aimed properly.

Boo!

This was my ghost cut-out, using the other point-light we had handy:

The Ghost on the Porch

The two point lights are just little 20W halogen floor-standing reading lights from the living room. And, of course, you have the pumpkins; [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat's, the more traditional sort:

Don't Fuck with Jack (Door Sentinel 1)

And mine:

Charizar Got Flame (Door Sentinel 2)

Oh, and finally, here's another shot of [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat's, after Photoshop's "autolevel" functionality got done with it. I really like it, even if the result is nothing like what it should have done ^_^ -

Jack Will Eat Your Soul!

Later, I'll really scare you with another political post. :-p

Saturday's Norwescon concom meeting was very strange; I'm not doing the lending library this year, so I haven't had anything to do before now, so this is the first time I've shown up. Despite this, I'm looking around going, "...didn't we just do this like three months ago?!" because of CascadiaCon. Plus, everybody else has been going for like three months already(!), so I'm simultaniously going, "Oh fuck, I'm really behind!" Except that I'm not; I've got another couple of months before I really have to start doing anything, really.

Sunday's miles: 2.1
Miles out of Hobbiton: 538.9
Miles out of Rivendell: 79.1
Miles to Lothlórien: 387.3

I'm really looking forward to the return of biking season. :-p

Great pictures. I'm debating whether to show Cat the Charizar one -- she'd be delighted, but I have this feeling I'd be forced to attempt pumpkin carving myself afterwards :D

It *is* biking season. I wouldn't necessarily advocate my craziness of bike commuting every day, but I do recommend an occasional ride on the trail on foggy days, particularly on the Bothell to Redmond stretch. The fog lends a mysterious beauty to everything, there's still lots of wildlife around, and you don't have to share the trail with nearly as many people.

I wear an inside layer, a thermal layer (longjohns, basically), and a rainproof layer. That includes something to keep my head warm, as well as gloves. The head covering and gloves can be fairly light unless there's actual ice or heavy frost on the ground; in that case I use winter gloves and a wool ski hat. If anything I'm a bit on the hot side, except for my hands which get cold from the wind but not uncomfortably so.

I actually only tend to walk for short distances (within a range of about a mile), so I'll often dress less warmly for walking even though I warm up pretty quickly on the bike. I'll just take a rain layer over a single warm layer (a sweater or winter-weight long sleeve shirt and slacks, plus regular cotton underwear).

One thing I've noticed is that it doesn't really rain hard that often around here, at least not this year. My guess is that I've had less than 10 miserably rainy days on the bike. The rest are drizzly, foggy, or frosty.

I love the pictures.. I love the fact you did wonderful things to your home... How did you get the one shadow? Paper and light behind it? The one in the overhang.
