Does this mean you might be moving to the Bay Area? Considering the research you want to do, the Bay might actually be a better place for you to go to school.

Nope, Google is opening an office up here in Kirkland. The position I'm interviewing for would be located here. They're interviewing me in Mountain View, though, because they don't have personnel in place up here to conduct interviews locally.

There are great schools down there - but mostly not in the areas I'm looking for. If I was going to move based on schools, it'd be Boston or Atlanta, or out of the country entirely. (There's interesting work going on in Switzerland and Japan, for example.)

But fortunately, the position, as Anna noted, is in Kirkland. They just don't have enough people up here yet to do proper interview chains, so it's TO HOME OFFICE SHE GOES!

Actually I wasn't thinking regular schools, more like 'military applications' at some mil developer out here. You could invent a whole new series of mind driven weapons! And then make guest appearances in SF movies as the gratuitus evil villianess!

Lucky you. I've been flown to Oslo twice for job interviews, but both times I had to go in the morning, have the interview, and return in the evening. No luxury hotel overnight stay for me.
