the tomorrow entry
Jul. 27th, 2005 08:13 pm1283 words today. I know, you don't usually see me talking about writing - that's usually
annathepiper's topic - but there you go. I occasionally write technical articles for magazines. Sadly, that puts me at right about 71% over target, and extra isn't better.
Oops. Oh well, that's what second drafts are for.
Sunday's estimated miles error correction: +0.5 from previous tally
Monday's miles: 1.5
Tuesday's token: 0.1
Wednesday's miles: 2.1
Miles out of Hobbiton: 301.25
Miles to Rivendell: 157.05
In other news, I think I figured out one of the things they do to the colour in the Battlestar Galactica scenes on Kobol. Then I did some other stuff too and came up with this. The funny part is that the red flower things in the tree? Those are pretty much exactly as the camera caught them. Neat, huh?

| You scored 18 Intelligence, 13 Wisdom, and 11 Charisma! |
| All stats are based on the original D&D system of 3-18. 3 being tragically weak and 18 being olympic level ability. Odds are you will be more towards the middle for most things (the middle being 10-11), as that is where most people should be. If you scored above 18 in any skill, I highly suggest you go back and read the directions closer. Especially if you scored above an 18 intelligence, you need to take the test over and only answer ONCE on the first page. Taken properly, it is not possible to get above an 18 on any stat, unless you' over 70 years old. Get the other half of your stats at this companion test. I am open to suggestions for improving this test. Please message me if you think I am not taking something into account, or have any questions for how I calculated scores. |
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Date: 2005-07-28 08:33 pm (UTC)Most of the time, SPECTRUM (the organisation primarily responsible for defending against the Mysterons) succeeds - but not all the time. There are several episodes where they, um, fail. And people die. It has an inherently high body count, because the way the Mysterons "recruit" agents is kill somebody, then scan and replace them with a nearly-indestructable duplicate.
The title character, Captain Scarlet - all the top level ground agents have colour code names, his real name is Paul Metcalfe - is actually killed by the Mysterons ten minutes in to the pilot. And yes, he's dead. The Captain Scarlet in the rest of the series is the Mysteron replacement; he's the only case where the copied personality matrix overcame the Mysteron agent programming overlay. So - and this is mostly off-screen backstory, but you get hints of it on-screen - he's utterly invaluable, since he can't be killed, and he's clearly on Earth's side - but they don't entirely trust him.
It's so fucked up and so cool. I love it.
Anyway, it's back - this time as a CGI series, running in the UK right now.
