After I got back from biking to McLendon's to get copies of the house keys made, I tried them out. One worked right away. The other... didn't. So I looked at them and realised that one had been cut a little too far from the handle, and as a result, the bit that determines how far into the lock the key goes was too shallow and the key wasn't going in quite far enough.

And I have a metal file! So a bit of filing solved that. It wasn't a perfect file - I made a little notch that I didn't need to make that doesn't hurt anything - but it works and it was a lot easier than going back to the store.

Then yesterday, I found the missing spare house key. Or rather, a house key, where I didn't expect to find one. It looked just like the one I'd put in the hiding place (inside) as a spare in case we needed it, which I'd filed down. Silver, shaped the same...

...and with the same little notch.

I guess the previous owner had the same problem. ^_^

So here's today's flower picture, if I can post it before the browser dies out from underneath me again - oh yeah, my laptop's back in the shop, and this time, they're actually paying attention to what I said about the hard drive, you know, dying:



Sure, it's a blackberry, and they're invasive and evil (tho' tasty), but I liked the shot. ^_^

mmmmmm.... BLACKBERRIES....

Not that we don't have plenty of them down here, just none in my yard since we have no sunlight. :P Lucky you! Tasty weeds in your yard!

You can make salad and stir fry from dandelion greens, and wine from the flowers, so don't eradicate them either. :)
