after dropping off my powerbook for repair, i decided to go by murksouth to change the bus stop trash. which is a damned good thing since somebody had broken into my studio! yay! and found the lockbox! yay! and opened it and took out keys to EVERY FUCKING DOOR IN THE ENTIRE BUILDING! YAY!!

they didn't steal anything else that i know about yet though, which is weird. probably they were going to come back later.

that was at about 3:15. 24 hours locksmiths are good. i have one i can recommend now. yay.

anyway. that, um, sucked. it was expensive and annoying and i didn't get to leave until almost 1am, and no artjam, and everything. blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

oh yeah:

{{hugs}} At least you caught it relatively quickly. I hope they didn't damage anything else while they were in there.

You do realize that they are still coming back, right? I hope you found a better place to keep the keys, and you may want to keep an eye out for thier return.

Why don't you just keep the keys at your house? Then no-one could steal them to use on the rental house premises...

having caught it BEFORE you got burgled is a GOOD thing, the keys changed out is a pain, but the insurance claim if they got burgled of 'stuff' too, woulda been a wench!
so, yeah, the locksmithy dude was $$ but cheaper than the copay on the insurance and the resultant insurance increase & whatnots, me thinks!

At my job, the BROKE THROUGH THE WALL in order to bypass the crypto locks and alarms. The swiped 20 laptops and 15 Blackberries.

Just goes to show you that walls are The Weakest Link (and people who don't lock up their PORTABLE DEVICES are just plain asking for it to happen to them.
