I've never seen weather like this in Seattle. I heard more thunder this afternoon than I've ever heard before in this part of the country. It wasn't as loud as you get in the midwest, but it was happening over and over. I'm surprised there isn't more freaking out on my friendslist.

The camera is getting less and less well behaved, so I may run out of flower pictures, alas. The last few I tried to take came out unusable. ;_; Which is too bad, since more flowers are starting to bud out. Here's from one taken earlier that was still salvageable:



I have... two more I can use, I think. I'll poke at the camera some more, maybe it'll behave again. That's happened before.

Today was the worst allergy day of the year. By previous year standards, it was nothing, and the rain helped. But still: annoying.

And my biggest innovation of the day is putting button-holes in my kitchen towels, so they stop falling off the button-style drawer pulls we have in this house. @whee!

Last week there were at least three thunder cells over here Wensday, at least two Thursday, and one Friday. A large and slow moving cell stuck around for a couple of hours today. This does seem worse than average. As a kid, thunderstorms locally seemed a rare novelity. Nowadays seem routine, and all too common.

What's going wrong with the camera?

It's autofocus only, and said autofocus has been b0rked at any setting other than wide-angle ever since that unfortunate grabby person at the Garden Show insisted upon grabbing a programme book from the rack I was standing in front of (and my camera was on, because I had to put it down for some reason - I forget why).

As of a couple of weeks ago, whatever was letting it work at the wide-angle setting has started not working reliably anymore, and now it rarely works. So the pictures are out of focus now at least half the time. All the shots in any given session are either reasonably okay (not as sharp as they should be, but usable) or completely useless. It is sad. Unfortunately, we can't afford to fix it or to get a new camera right now, so, la.
