Focus on the Family Action Launches Judical Filibuster Ad Campaign
from Focus on the Family Action
http://www.focusaction.org/activities/a0000069.cfm
Focus on the Family Action is launching an ad campaign in 14 states, urging calls to U.S. senators in support of an up-or-down vote on President Bush's judicial nominees. As we've witnessed for the last three years, Senate Democrats are again planning to filibuster the president's well-qualified nominees. Republican senators, however, are expected to soon take action to end judicial filibusters. (This action is called the "Constitutional Option" because it would restore the constitutional responsibility of senators to vote, and by a majority, confirm the president’s judicial nominees.)
The ads encourage the following Democrat senators to stop filibustering and allow a vote on all judicial nominees: Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas; Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska; Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota; Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida; Sen. Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico; Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota; Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana; Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana; Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado; and Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada.
The ads also encourage the following Republican senators to support action (the Constitutional Option) to end judicial filibusters: Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine; Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska; Sen. John Warner of Virginia; and Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana.

Massachusetts Committee Hears Testimony on Bid to Remove Four Justices
4/18/2005

Bill of Address would unseat chief justice, 3 others who imposed ‘gay marriage.’
http://www.cwfa.org/articles/7934/CFI/family/index.htm
Pro-family advocates gave strong support last week to a Bill of Address to remove Chief Justice Margaret Marshall and three other Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court judges who created homosexual “marriage” last year.
Tammy Mosher, Concerned Women for America’s (CWA’s) new Massachusetts state director, said she was encouraged by the renewed effort to “reign in the judges.”
“Massachusetts is first in a lot of negative things, but for once, we can lead the country in something that’s positive and constructive,” she said. “Massachusetts isn’t alone in needing certain judges removed. Florida has one that surely should be investigated, and California has its share, too.”
In a joint Judiciary Committee hearing of the state Legislature on Tuesday, April 12, proponents spoke forcefully about why Rep. Emile Goguen’s (D-Fitchburg) bill (H. 652) to remove the judges was needed.
The hearing had been scheduled without fanfare, according to the Article 8 Alliance, which is leading the effort to remove the judges. This is how the Alliance’s Web site reports it:
“We are living in a lawless state where the constitution is ignored,” Amy Contrada of Acton told lawmakers, according to the Lowell Sun. “Truly in Massachusetts, the emperor has no clothes, but you're all pretending that he does.”
Goguen himself testified before the committee that the term “judicial tyranny” has become widespread in America, citing the “court-imposed starvation of the young woman in Florida” and other court decisions about the Pledge of Allegiance in schools, according to the Sun.

New Zealand Calls for International Approval of 'Sexual Orientation' Rights
4/18/2005
By Wendy Wright
Concerned Women for America
New Zealand was joined by 31 countries in calling for special rights for homosexuals.
http://www.cwfa.org/articles/7939/CWA/nation/index.htm
Geneva -- In frustration, New Zealand called for recognition of "sexual orientation" as a human right at the U.N. Commission on Human Rights, acknowledging, for the third year, the failure of a resolution to do that to gain international approval.
New Zealand was joined by 31 countries, mostly European, but with some surprises such as Mexico, Guatemala and Malta. Croatia pulled its support after initially signing on.
Obtaining a copy of the speech days before it was given, pro-family advocates and academics distributed explanations to delegates on why the term "sexual orientation" and the new term added this year, "gender identity," would change the concept of human rights and pave the way for denying protection to others.

Pro-Aborts and Homosexual Bishop -- Alliance Not Surprising, Says Family Advocate
By Jim Brown and Bill Fancher
Agape Press
April 15, 2005
http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/4/152005d.asp
(AgapePress) - Homosexual Episcopal bishop Vicki Gene Robinson was the keynote speaker at an "interfaith prayer breakfast" on Friday morning sponsored by the nation's largest abortion provider. The New Hampshire bishop used the opportunity to praise Planned Parenthood for its efforts -- and to go on the attack against America.
The prayer breakfast is part of Planned Parenthood's annual conference, which is being held in Washington, DC. Robinson, the Episcopal Church's first openly homosexual bishop, told the organization's staff and supporters they have reason to be proud of what they do.
"Long before the 'religious right' was objecting to abortions, Planned Parenthood was objecting to the violence against women when butchers were performing all the abortions here in America," Robinson said. "Yours is amazing history -- and I hope you are as proud as you should be."
He also stated that America treats everyone wrong -- except straight white men. "I am so grateful for this experience of being gay. It has taught me so much," the bishop said. "It's my little window into what it must be like to be a woman, to be a person in a wheelchair, to be a person of color."
Robinson said that is why homosexuals and abortion advocates must unite and fight to bring about what he calls a "holy change" in the nation. The two movements, he said, will always be linked together as they battle to bring about that change.
Prior to the breakfast, Planned Parenthood chaplain Dr. Ignacio Castuera had described Robinson as an "inspiring religious leader and a compelling moral and ethical force in the struggle for reproductive rights, human rights, and sexual equality." Robinson's work in the areas of mentoring and "healthy sexuality," he added, has "shaped generations of believers who share his progressive spiritual values."
Evidence of Close Alliance
Robert Knight is the director of the Culture and Family Institute, an arm of Concerned Women of America. Knight says Robinson's speaking appearance is not surprising, considering the strong alliance that exists between the abortion and homosexual movements.
"A lot of people wonder why homosexuals would be interested in the abortion issue at all, but it really all comes together in one place," he explains, "and that is the challenge to God's plan for the family and for sex as exclusively something that brings a husband and a wife together and produces children. The abortion movement and the homosexual movement have long supported each other."

The committee … called the hearing as quietly as possible. They simply posted it on a bulletin board by their office door. Nothing on the State House Web site. No notice to the sponsor of our bill. (But it would appear that the homosexuals were told in advance.)Luckily, people from across the state responded wonderfully. When we called their office, on a hunch things were too quiet – last Friday afternoon – they were very cagey. Something smelled funny. So we persisted, and by 3:30 p.m. we found out what was going on. And let people know.
“We are living in a lawless state where the constitution is ignored,” Amy Contrada of Acton told lawmakers, according to the Lowell Sun. “Truly in Massachusetts, the emperor has no clothes, but you're all pretending that he does.”
