pointless whinging

I'm so fucking tired of looking at and for houses that I don't even know what to say anymore. We've dropped most of our original criteria and have a fuckload of money to spend and we still can't buy our way into a house. What the fuck is wrong here?

It's just bludgeoning. It's depressing, but I'm kind of past that now to the point where I'm just stultified and blank.

I suspect we won't be able to get anything until the market gets less stupid this fall. I dunno that, but I'm starting to think that's the case. People are crazy - seriously crazy. Who the hell offers a no-inspection bid over asking on a house that's just on the market after a no-repairs two-year eviction battle? Who offers $50K over ask on an ugly fixer barely north of Lake City? Who buys an industrial-garage-fronted fixer for $400K without even viewing it? People in this market, that's who. And meanwhile we're probably fucking stuck here for another summer.

I dunno what we're doing wrong. I don't even really see that we are doing something wrong. I'm really not good at throwing money away, and that's what these other people really do seem to be doing.

I bet there are houses up here... unfortunately, we're in the middle of nowhere. This can be nice, however. Plus, we have a hockey team and a MALL, oooh you're impressed, I can tell.

We really don't want to be that far out, even though some parts of that idea are very, very, very attractive.

That said, at this rate, we'll end up buying a 2200 square foot new-construction cul-de-sac lookit-my-garage house in Ephrata at the end of it. And then I'll kill everyone I see!

Why don't you build your own home? We did ours through Quadrant, for example, and are very satisified. Went quickly and easily and we love our new home!

If you're doing well financially, then a suggestion might be to take yourself out of the market until the nuttiness ends. Why compete head-to-head with the fruitcakes when if you can just wait them out? If you're desperate to get out of your current place, then move into a nice new apartment til fall.
