You and "Hester" got my admiration for sheer coolness in making your costumes from "scratch", rather than throwing a collection of things together.

Date: 2007-05-01 12:12 am (UTC)I made my own Shego outfit, the one I'm wearing in the photos. What you need to do is get a black dance leotard with long sleeves and long pants (and stirrup leggings so that the legs don't ride up), a pair of black leather-like gloves (skiing gloves are good) and low black boots. (Flats or low heels.) Then you get stretchable, flexible fabric paint and paint the green parts onto the costume. You NEED to get a really good brand of paint or it'll fall off, or prevent the leotard from stretching properly. I used Jones Tones brand "pearly green" and "yellow" colours, mixing them myself to get the right tone; I don't know of any other brand that might have worked.
Then you paint on one coat, wait for it to dry and put the costume on so that it stretches out. Then take it back off, put on the second coat, wait for it to dry, and do the same thing again. After the third coat, you should be done.
While this is going on, you paint one boot and one glove with the same colour paint.
It's a lot of work, but it looks really good when you're done. You can see the green patterning from my outfit photos above, and here's a picture of the back of my Shego costume. It's a little dingy in that photo because the temporary dye I used on my hair came off a bit. Figuring that pattern out took a lot of work, partly because Disney's animators don't keep the same parts green all the time, which I found REALLY annoying. So this is my version, and a bit of an average of all the versions.
Anyway, good luck!
