Damn, I wish I had the time to track down the issue of MAD Magazine with, I think, Al Jaffe's electric trenchcoat, powered by 2000 or so AA batteries in the lining. That was some time in the 1970s or early '80s, and now, here it is, just with not quite so many batteries.

I'm pretty sure I could never wear that, 'cause electricity is one of my big freaky fears, like needles and falling. The thought of WEARING a high-voltage garmet that makes that crazy electrical noise...... eeeeuuuuuuggghhhhh..... :P NO!

And I fail to see how this is useful if the person is threatening you with, say, a gun or a non-conductive club like a baseball bat. Not that I'm worried about being in this sort of situation.
