Oh good, a post I can leave public! ^_^

What's the last place you traveled to, outside your own home state/country?
Chon Buri, Thailand. Just got back. Hated it! But that's because I reacted badly to Something and got sick.

What's the most bizarre/unusual thing that's ever happened to you while traveling?
Well, this last trip, I got progressively less able to sleep OR eat, so that was really bad and was very strange. So I came home early and was fine in a day and a half. So I guess that counts. Most of my trips have been fairly uneventful, as far as I can remember.

If you could take off to anywhere, money and time being no object, where would you go?
On earth? TOKYO! And all over Japan. ^_^

Do you prefer traveling by plane, train or car?
I loathe driving. I do it and try to do a decent job, because it's a survival skill, but I really dislike it. I hate airplanes, too; the air system has just gotten worse and worse. (And this last trip was no exception. A 22 hour trip turned into almost three days courtesy of airline ineptitude. Have I mentioned "don't fly Northwest" lately?) I've never taken the train, but would like to. [livejournal.com profile] annathepiper and I almost took the train down to San Jose for that Worldcon, but we ended up not having the extra time.

What's the next place on your list to visit?
Toronto, for the Worldcon, in a couple of weeks. Yay! ^_^

Speaking of Worldcon, we need to make arrangements to hook up for lunch or dinner or something while you're in this part of the country....

From what I've heard, the train system is even more fucked up than the air system. Plus you basically get battered as the thing shakes its way down the track. Plus it takes forever.

The shaking isn't THAT bad. The taking forever part is true, but you could always go up to the smoking car and get cancer.

In this country, I've only ever taken the train from Seattle to Portland. No noticeable shaking. The ride was way more pleasant than any airplane, and train stations are less screwy than airports.

The main problem (out west, anyway) is the scheduling and priority system--freight trains own the line and can delay passenger trains for hours. This resulted in having to go back from Portland in a bus because the train was four hours late, and THAT sucked.

The taking forever can be a feature depending upon how you're looking at things, but it's definitely a potential downside.

Remind me again which five those are? I can't make it to Worldcon at all, but it's a short enough drive that we can make it over for dinner at any point. Saturday probably would be the easiest day, unless I get the schooner done and try to come by sail.
