I keep wanting to be done with Musk’s disinformation fountain, but

I really do want to be done with the fascist propaganda and disinformation fountain that Elon Musk made out of Twitter, but he keeps doing horrible things with it, and not only are most people still using it – sitting down with Nazis and giving the fash ownership their money – now governments are getting involved.

Maybe that’ll help, I honestly don’t know. But I doubt it.

Why?

Because the entire point of him buying it was to push this shit, as part of his “war” against the “woke mind virus,” as he calls any beliefs to the left of Benito Mussolini. It’s documented that this is why. He’s said so. It’s not a debate! The only debate is why people won’t accept that this is a fact uncontested by him.

So the idea that various Secretaries of State from US states asking politely can get him to stop spreading election disinformation via his AI strike me as just a bit mad. Again, that’s why he bought it, team. He might shuffle around how he does it at any given moment, sure. But he absolutely will keep doing it, because that’s the entire point.

The entire Republican party is all in on permanent lying and permanent fake reality, because that’s the only way they can convince people to give them power. It’s core to their operations now, and Musk is a huge, huge part of that.

I mean, he’s personally shared deepfakes of Kamala Harris in violation of X’s so-called terms of service, and there’s another deepfake going around right now. (That first link is to a pastebin of a New York Times article, because I really don’t want to link the NY Times; I vouch for its accuracy personally.)

After suspending White Dudes for Harris in response to them raising millions for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, he followed up by suspending Progressives for Harris, without explanation.

And so on. I’m sure I’ve missed some, even though this is just the last few days.

But we all know why he’s doing it by now, right? Sabotage. That’s why.

He’ll keep doing it. He won’t stop. Again: it’s why he bought Twitter.

Of course, that’s not all he’s doing. His MAGAt PAC is sending people to fake voting registration sites that don’t actually register you to vote, but instead collect incredibly specific data about you as an individual to target you individually and personally with fascist propaganda.

If you’re in a contested state, anyway. If the state isn’t contested, you actually go to a state voter registration site. But in a close state? Oh no.

This, hopefully, will be treated as the crime it should be – but it’ll take a while to happen.

This is who Elon Musk is, it’s what he does. And he is not going to stop.

WASHINGTON STATE: If you haven’t voted, DO THAT NOW

Just a late reminder that if you’re in Washington State and haven’t filled out your ballots, you need to fill them out NOW and drop them in a ballot box TOMORROW.

Get it done folks, primaries are important, downballot is important, all of it matters. The choices aren’t hard this year, but do go ahead and get it done.
