We’ll get to the headline, but first: today – as this goes up, October 29th – is the final deadline to send your Vote Forward get-out-the-vote letters. If you have any left prepared, or that you can get prepared, then even if you haven’t completed an entire bundle, send everything you’ve got out now. It has to be in the mail today.

Vote Forward is done for the cycle and is now redirecting people to Swing Left for in-person work, not just but particularly in the most contested states… none of which include mine. But if you’re able, go, sign up, get to work. Now is the time.

Since I’m not anywhere useful for any of that, I’ll keep working here.

Now, back to our headline:

JD Vance was out Monday defending the race hate speeches at Sunday’s Trump rally, calling the racist attacks on Puerto Rico and people from Puerto Rico as a “little thing” that people should “take a chill pill” and generally making it clear that he truly doesn’t give a fuck and is absolutely just fine with race hate.

Underneath all the contempt, what he’s pushing is the longstanding fash assertion that raw racial hatred shouldn’t have any negative consequences, and should in fact be welcome in polite society. It was literally the top of Punching Bag Nazi’s agenda, and it’s right up there in Vance’s – and throughout their movement.

To which I say, go fuck yourself, you racist filth. If you come onto my property, I will have you fucking arrested for trespassing, you evil motherfuckers. I hope you die alone, unloved, and in pain.

(See also the no-longer-noteworthy founder of the Proud Boys far-right street gang saying their goal is to “make America hate again.” Not great: hate. Because that’s what this entire trashfire movement is about, and has always been about.)

He was also out there repeating Russian talking points on Ukraine and saying Russian election influence efforts shouldn’t be punished or even particularly defended against. And why wouldn’t he? They’re trying to get him and his fascist boss elected, after all, and anything in service to their power is good, right? They’re all in the same big international league of authoritarian tyrants and would-bes; he just wants to be in the game.

All this is happening, naturally, as Trump is working to rile his base up into violent opposition to his oncoming election loss. Based on this commentary, it sounds like he’s expecting Kamala Harris to get 85 million votes or more.

(Literal Hitler fanboy Trump also keeps praising Chinese President Xi, have I mentioned that lately? Specifically, Trump’s praising him for ruling over his country “with an iron fist.” Because he’s a fucking fascist who wants to brutalise millions of people too. He’s never met a brutal dictator he didn’t adore and want to emulate.)

Talking of fascist in league, let’s move over to the billionaire faction.

Just like Trump, it turns out Elon Musk has been talking – a lot – with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. I’m pretty sure Trump has been taking advice from Putin on how to retake power and then keep it; Elon’s probably been coordinating disinformation strategy, given his ownership of “X,” the fascist disinformation and propaganda fountain he made out of what used to be Twitter.

Oh, did you know Russia’s been using Starlink to guide its weapons in Ukraine? That’s not supposed to be allowed, or even possible, and yet Ukrainians keep finding Starlink hardware in downed drones.

I’m sure Musk and his close friendship and alliance with Putin has nothing to do with this at all.

Meanwhile, I guess playing some obscene sort of catch up, you have Junior Spaceboy Jeff Bezos making his quid-pro-quo with Trump, pre-caving to the would-be fascist dictator and yanking the Washington Post‘s endorsement of Kamala Harris in what appears to be some deal to boost his Blue Origin rocket company. Apparently he thought nobody would really care; so far, it’s cost the Washington Post 200,000 subscribers, in addition to several editors. But he’s holding his ground.

I wrote him saying we’re never re-subscribing and also that there will be no more Amazon Prime for us… ever, really. He doesn’t care about losing money at WaPo; Amazon Prime is the cash cow.

Heather Cox Richardson has a great writeup on the larger situation; while the link is to facebook, it doesn’t require a Facebook account and it’s where she posts, so deal with it.

This follows LA Times billionaire owner Patrick Soon-Shiong doing not just the same thing, but yanking a week-long series on all the horrors a second Trump administration would bring. They’ve also had a bunch of editorial resignations.

This is pre-capitulation, and is the opposite of what you need to do – what you have to do – in the face of impending tyranny

…unless, of course, you’re fine with it.

Which is what’s going on here. They’re billionaires. They don’t care. They don’t have to.

But they might want to remember that this is how Putin consolidated his power, starting in 2003, and that they aren’t as immune as they think.

Particularly the ones who aren’t white.

Okay, enough of all that. Mostly I wanted to get Vance’s endorsement of the Trump rally’s raw race hate out there. Make sure everybody – particularly everyone who isn’t a racist shitpile – knows, and further knows that there are no more excuses, no more dodges, no more weaselling around it. This is who they are, what they want, and what they’ll do.

That, and burn down the planet. They’ll do that, too, because they’re so very, truly, deeply fucking venal and stupid.

Time to get back to work.

6 days remain.
