NaNoteWriMo9
Nov. 1st, 2009 11:08 pmOkay, so, a couple of years ago, I participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) unofficially and from a made-up parallel world where NaNoWriMo is all about writing music instead of novels. The goal was 50 minutes of music in 30 days. I called it NaNoteWriMo, and that was NaNoteWriMo7 because it was 2007, and so on. I made my own icons and posted to the LJ nanowrimo community and stuff and nobody seemed to mind.
I'm reviving the idea this year! Yes, I know, stupid elfgirl, you're working on an album! But I haven't written much for the last few months (not nothing; just not a lot) and I want to fix that. I'm not laying off the work on the album, tho'. DOUBLETIME FOR A MONTH BABY CAN I DO IT? I don't know! We'll find out. I don't really expect to succeed - I didn't succeed in '07, getting only 28 minutes of song done - but it's fun to try.
Also, I actually kept a lot of NaNote7 - more than half of Distractions will be flute songs that came out of that month, and I perform a lot of 'em in public. (Well, those songs, or descendants of those songs; "Dream of an Incomplete Flute" - a song I still perform when I'm doing flute work - came out of the NaNoteWriMo song, "Song for an Incomplete Flute," for example. Similar, but improved.) So it's productive time spent.
Anyway, today is the first day of NaNote9! And the first song, yay! "America in Amber," 3m58s, four verses and it still needs an outro. Plus some work on another song which is mostly finished but technically still in progress, for about one more minute, but I'm not sure whether to count that yet. 46 or 45 minutes to go!
