Anyone else going to Folklife from the north end tomorrow (Sunday) and want to share a ride down with us? It'll save on parking fees when we get there. This does assume that Anna and I will be driving because we'll be taking instruments again, but that's the plan as of now. We'd want to get there pretty early so I can register for busky goodness.

The only downside is coming home when we do. Or you could get a bus, like we'd be doing if we were hauling instruments. ^_^

There's a little bit of movement out there to try to declare the Iraq war a smashing success (as noted first here by [livejournal.com profile] urbaniak), and in the face of spiraling oil prices, arguments that the US should invade more oil-rich countries specifically to take their oil. Mish Shedlock notes correctly that this is, at best, theft, and more to the point, insane. I have argued similarly myself in discussion forums where this comes up, noting that it is thuggery at its finest.

In other news Glenn outlines the bribery campaign contribution trail between the telecoms lobbying for retroactive amnesty and the members of Congress most directly involved. This effort is still ongoing; the attempt to close off the only semi-functional investigation into all this domestic spying continues apace. And in Item 6 here, Mr. Greenwald also notes that the administration has moved directly from denial of any administration involvement in the massive domestic military psi-op/domestic propaganda campaign to confirmation and insistence that it did nothing wrong, despite laws specifically banning such operations. There continues to be no coverage of this on the major networks, as far as I am aware.
