Trump spent Sunday out there screaming that Harris’s crowds don’t actually exist. They’re fake, “AI” crowds, whatever, generally not real.

I honestly don’t know what to say when you’ve got this level of dissociation from reality happening. It’s literally what you’d expect out of a toddler rejecting reality they dislike, but in an adult… I mean, how is this anything other than a serious mental breakdown, and why is it being treated any other way?

I mean yes, I know, rejection of reality in favour of belief in false narrative demanded by the Leader is part of the control system, I know. But this… this is getting into “if the Party says I can fly, then I can fly” territory.

Even his own followers over on his shitpile social media site are saying “dude. This is nuts. Stop.” but honestly I don’t think they fully realise how broken this is. I mean, seriously, they’ve had to accept so much unreality for so long that I don’t think they really can get it anymore.

Go look at his post. Imagine it was someone you cared about. What would you think?

He’s also reportedly torn into one of his biggest donor over PAC spending, telling the donor that the PAC she’s funding is a “RINO” PAC, even though it’s spending tens of millions of dollars on ads in his support. I’m pretty sure this is Trumpspeak for “le parti, c’est moi” and he’s just raging at this point at anyone spending any money on anyone but him. But I honestly can’t tell.

This would normally be intervention time, but I don’t know that the Republicans have any legal way to do it.

I’ve avoided getting into the online psychological assessment business, because who the hell am I to try to do that, but this is full-on screaming from a street corner.

And I think that it is very clear – seriously, very clear – that Cheeto Mussolini is not okay.

Oh, I saw one going around on Mastodon a couple of days ago, so there's been at least one. ^_^

Still, on this - I really don't get why people aren't seeing this as going past a reality line. Sure, he's lied about things in ways that are obviously false, but they're either things which are abstract, or things where you can work your way to a plausible deniability if you really, really want to.

This is looking at physical objects in space - lots of them, in the form of people - and saying they're not real. They just aren't there. The thousands of witnesses are wrong, and lying, and they just don't exist.

This is too elemental and too basic. To me, it looks like some kind of real break.

I've thought of it as desperately throwing anything and everything at the wall, hoping that some of it might stick with his base. But if he continues with his current disconnect with reality it may be evidence that you're correct.

It's really not!

People exaggerate all the time. It was a "bad photo." It was "taken at the wrong time" it was "people packed closer together" it was "after they'd moved on to another space" it was pick another justification. All of those manage to squeeze into normal human interaction, for better or for worse.

None of them are the same as saying "this thing that clearly exists did not exist at all." There's a difference between exaggeration (even as lie) or minimisation (even as lie) and abject objective, no-plausible-deniability denial of reality.

And none of them made his own followers go "dude, what the fuck?"

Because they see it too - that this is different.

And they don't like it.

He's putting his ego first, specifically, and he's so accustomed to and thinks he's so good at lying that he just doesn't care if anyone can or will fact-check him (on this or anything) or not.

After all, on any given day for most of the last 9 years he's had between 30%-45% of the electorate who he could sell a bridge to, and he's way beyond even blinking over the idea of alienating them or anyone else (thinks he can't or won't, no matter what he says or does).

I've thought he was unwell since he abandoned his 2012 campaign as looking back on what he said then, in retrospect it was exactly the same things he says now - along the lines of our country's a disgrace, an embarrassment, other countries laugh at us, etc.

That was unhinged then and it's unhinged now (like it was/is literally not based in reality). I have a theory that guys like him, though, became unhinged when Obama won office and the damage - their internal trauma over a Black person somehow ascending to that height - is something they can't and won't recover from, ever.

While we wait for them to grow old and die, anything can be used in service to recovering their proper place in the God-given pecking order - in their minds, justifiably - be it racism, hatred, lies pouring out of them like water, etc.

I mean, in this case probably? I doubt he's gonna get shot opening the door, or they'll toss a flash grenade in there and kill his dog kid. (I forgot, he doesn't like animals. Fair enough, but the mind still boggles at a politician admitting this openly.)
